President’s Message for website:
The curtain has risen on another ESA year in Kansas. Vacations are over, school has started, the seasons are ready to make their change and it’s time to get ready for another ESA year. Has your chapter planned some show stopping educationals and socials? Will they win a Tony award for being the best ever? I hope you have some fun this year by using my state theme “ESA…On With The Show”. Below are a few dates and items to check out when planning your year in ESA.
*Monday, September 23rd: Dine at Chili’s and they donate all of their net profits to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Chili’s is working towards a goal to raise $50 million dollars. Why not go out to eat and help the kids at St. Jude?
*Tuesday, October 1st is ESA’s Friends Are Life’s Dessert Recruitment Month. Choctober was so successful last year that IC President Vicky Jones didn’t want to change it this year. Host a scrumptious chocolate-themed ESA recruitment party during the month of October and invite guests to indulge themselves with a delicious assortment of chocolate treats plus some fun –ESA style.
*IC President Vicky Jones focus this year is Literacy. Promote literacy and the love of reading by having members volunteer to read to elementary age students. Check out the IC website for more ideas. Some local Retired Senior Volunteer Programs already have a reading program in place, ask about signing up. Hold a book drive to collect books for Veteran Hospital libraries or for a military installation’s on-base child care facility.
*November 2nd and 3rd is our Fall State Council meeting in Wichita held on the campus of Heartspring. Did you see the article about the Tree House in the latest issue of The Jonquil? That’s a feather in our cap, don’t you think? Everyone is welcome to attend any state council meeting and we do have lots of fun. It’s not all business!!
I hope you have a fantastic fall and remember to ask everyone you meet to “come join you” in this really great organization called Epsilon Sigma Alpha. They might just say “yes” and might just enjoy the show!
