HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENNIE AND VIRGINIA!
Two of our infamous ESA Ladies celebrated their 90Th Birthday in the Fall. Gennie Brown and Virginia Bigbee.
Both of these ladies have a very long and rich history in ESA. They have served in many offices in their chapters as well as the Kansas State Council. Gennie and Virginia have captured our hearts a long time ago and we wished them both a very happy birthday this year. |
Margaret Shook Recognized by Rainbows United
Margaret Shook was recognized as a longtime Rainbows United Volunteer in December. She was awarded the first Linda Weir - Enegren Legacy Award from Rainbows United Linda Weir was the original planer and implementer of Rainbows United. Linda started Rainbows United over 35 years ago when she and her husband adopted a special needs son and realized there was little to no help for these children in the Wichita area. Ironically Margaret and Walt also adopted a son with severe disabilities and was directed to Rainbows United for help For the past 35 years Margaret has volunteered to help other children like Brandon. The Blarney Breakfast held every year on St. Patrick's Day is sponsored by Chi Epsilon and has raised thousands of dollars for services for children and families. The legacy award will be presented periodically to individually as a thank you for a life time of supporting children with special needs. Margaret was thrilled and very honored to be the first recipient. This is a very high honor for our ESA sister and member of Chi Epsilon in Wichita. Margaret is also a member of the Kansas Lamplighters since she served as the Kansas State Council President in 1991-1992. Her theme was "ESA ... Super Star". We are understandably proud of Margaret and have always known she is indeed a "Super Star".

It's a first for us in Kansas! A new on-line chapter was chartered January 25 in Salina with eight members. Raylene West from Dighton and Dayna Himot from Colorado join ESA as new members of ESA, while Kimberly Konency, Wichita, Marilyn Logbeck, Derby, Sharon Rubenech and Barbara Taylor-Fly, Florida, and Mary Ann Graham, Winfield return to active status in ESA. Verneene Forssberg was the sponsor for and now a member of Theta Rho. (Right) Marilyn Logbeck signs the new charter.
